I guess you know by
now I'm way behind on putting up pic!
I will admit I did some serious procrastinating
I didn't want to tell the story or work with pic for a change!
I started this trip much earlier than usual because I had an extra
place to go before the rally! I had to go honor a lost friend! I was
headed to Roosters Funeral!
I was out the door by 9 am headed west! I rode pretty slow for
me! it was a cool morning but still nice! I rode up through Kingfisher and
Watonga and on to Seiling. outside Seiling a bike came up on my left and
passed me! it was Duck and his lady. I sped up so I could ride with him! I
don't think he knew who I was! but then we settled into a nice
smooth ride the rest of the way into Woodward! it was faster than the pace
I was riding before. He was headed the same place I was! We stopped
at the Peppermint! where a group was gathering to go over to the funeral
home! Duck left and went on to Roosters house! I stayed! shortly after
Duck left Termite showed up from AZ. he had come in for the dirt drags but
pushed it to get here in time for the funeral! We visited a while
then it was time to leave Tweedy ask if my ole lady would mind if she rode
with me! I told her Mo said she could ride with me
anytime!
We were gathering up to leave when the sprinkles started!
as we were on the way out of town it was getting heavier Tweedy leaned
over my shoulder and said I bet Rooster is up there laughing and kicking
the clouds shouting come on get them wet! after all he would ride in
anything!

I knew then he was with
us on the ride! Just riding the sky!!
The funeral was a celebration of Roosters life! It showed just how many
people he touched!
After the Funeral we headed back to Woodward to pick up my stuff at the
Peppermint it was the first time I got to ride with Termite since I went
to AZ in 1999! I rode out there ahead of the May 3rd tornado! riding with
him just felt natural! we both just knew what the other one was going to
do! just like old times! When we stopped at a stop light in
Woodward Tweedy, Termite and I decided a cup of coffee sounded real
good! to heck with what needed to be done! We stopped at the truck
stop and enjoyed the company! A friend of Termites joined us a few minuets
latter! we finally left there and stopped at the Peppermint so I could get
my stuff! then I headed out to the dirt drags! I got there and set up
camp! my usual spot was open! the first night was pretty solemn! not much
going on still folks talking about there friend they lost! lots of
different stories! any one who ever met him has some funny story to tell
of things they remembered about Rooster! they would tell a story
then a smile would cross there face for a moment! I don't! know what time
I went to bed but did finally sleep! Saturday morning I got up and got
some breakfast and coffee! things were slow getting started but they did!
we started with the kid games! after the the kids were done we moved
on to the races! starting with barrels and boot races then on to the
drags! the guys take this serious! it is no holds barred thrill
seekers!
