I felt the concussion & heat
from when it ignited from over 150 feet! I did get my camera out during
the light rain and get band pic! and some of the adult fun! then duck back
into the pavilion to protect my camera! about 8pm we started getting
severe weather reports! from there on it was of and on rain! the band
continued to play no matter what! I don't know if they help a stage show
but if they did it was raining hard enough I wasn't taking my camera out
in it! at some point we were getting mile by mile how close the
tornados were away from us as it got closer! there were reports of tornados
on the ground in Woodward! some people went to check on things at home!
lots of us just hunkered down to weather out the storms including some
pretty big hail! some where around mid night the Sharon fire department
came out and told us we needed to evacuate the area there was a tornado
headed right at us! we piled into vehicles and headed to the shelter at
the school! oddly enough by the time we got to the school the all clear
had sounded for our area and reports of the tornado hitting down the road
a half mile past us! ok so we dodged another bullet!

lots of us headed back to camp others went
on home! by that time the party had pretty well broken up so I went to bed
to the sound of rain! I know what that means but I figured I would deal
with that in the morning! the next morning I got up fairly early so I
could make it to the coc meeting in Lawton I packed up and was ready to go
it had rained most of the night so the roads had not had a chance to dry
out and the slop we all stirred up getting out the night before was real
soft! Tom followed me out to make sure I made it! the only problem was
where the silt was real deep and I bogged down! tom helped me get thru
that and I got to the road! of course as soon as I got to the pavement the
rain started again! I rode in the rain all the way to Seiling! I finally
rode out of the rain there! the clouds were heavy to the south and I could
see rain in the sky but just not on me! when I got to Watonga I looked
south and could see more rain between me and Lawton! I called home and
got weather there looked to be about 75 miles of rain between me and
it! bu the time I rode there thru the rain I would be late for the
meeting! my sister was in town so I decided I could miss one
meeting! I headed home! the last 60 miles were dry! I got home a little
after noon! what an adventure this one was! till next time The Picture Man |
