I was loading up and headed down the road! by the way the duck tape made a great wiring loom! I did reroute the wire so it stayed out of the tire! There used to be a commercial on the radio and tv that went you meet the nicest people on a honda well I disagree! then and now! I met an old biker and he understood did all he could to help me get back on the road, ask for nothing in return! that is the true meaning of brother hood! well I managed to go straight thru St Louis on 44 and get straight on 64 instead of going the long way around. headed straight east thru southern Ill. 147 miles across that then into Ind. 87miles to highway 37 and north to the boogie! and not a single drop of rain the whole way! looks like I will get wet going home! i was very comfortable on the morning part of the ride because it was nice and cool out! i dont think it got over 80 the rest of the trip that was a welcome relief from the heat the day before. well when I got there I could see the party was in full swing and it was only about 2:30! I checked in at the gate. then headed down to the bottom to get my camp site along the tree line in the shade not that I would need it this year! I set up camp visited with a couple of friends close by then headed up to what they call party central I stopped and visited with friends there a bit. walking thru the big top back down to the stage and then back to the food venders of course I have a favorite vendor here just like most rallies I got to. they make a Philly cheese stake sandwich to die for! I have one every day while I'm there. I was having a good time listing to the music visiting with friends and even making new ones. every year I met a new friend or two. get to know other friends better. and enjoy the brotherhood here at the boogie! and then decided to walk the camp grounds early! |
I Caught the wagon and rode a short
distance and then got off and walked taking pic and visiting as I went! I am
amazed how many friends I have made in the 10 years I have been coming
to the boogie! I also always forget how far it is around the boogie
camp grounds until I got started walking. well I walked every road in the
camp ground and ended back up at party central. about dark to take pic
of the bands and the crowd! well I finally went and laid down about 2:30 it
had been a long day. I got up about 8:45 am and went over to the unchained gang/ mm for some coffee and then went on down the road a few feet and got some breakfast, goofed around a bit then walked across the road and shot pic of the arm wrestling, this is a switch from the last few years where I had to go up to the top to take pic of that! i really like doing the arm wrestling contest but after that I went over to the hole shot contest! to get a few pic then I saw a commotion on the other side of the creek so I went to see they were holding the best buns contest being an equal opportunity photographer I went and got some pic for the girls to see too! I took one of them enjoying the show after all that I made my way back to party central for something to eat! I did stop by my tent to grab a long sleeve shirt and put it on in place of short sleeve shirt! I have no idea how a long sleeve shirt got in my stuff with 108 deg temps at home but I'm sure glad it did! some one forgot to tell mother nature it was summer up there. I stayed up by party central after I got something to eat and shot pic of the bands and everybody parting, till about 2am then headed back to camp to get some rest! when I laid down I covered up with a light poncho liner and was comfortable. I don't know what time it was when I woke up but I was cold! I got under my heavy blanket and went back to sleep. |
