As we go about our daily lives we see people that seem to have a glow or light shining about them while we feel sad and gloomy. Then we ask ourselves "What do they have that I don't".

IS YOUR LIFE A MESS

Six -year-old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor.

He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.

Brandon was covered with flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad.

He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it all into the oven or on the stove and he didn't know how the stove worked.  Suddenly he saw his kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to push her away, knocking the egg carton to the floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting
his pajamas white and sticky.

And just then he saw Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up in Brandon 's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him.

Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process!

That's how God deals with us. We try to do something good in life, but it turns into a mess. Our marriage gets all sticky or we insult a friend, or we can't stand our job, or our health goes sour, drunkenness, drugs, debt, uncontrolled anger, undisciplined children, and yes the list goes on.

Sometimes we just stand there in tears because we can't think of anything else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even though some of our mess gets all over Him.

God does not promise us we will not have problems or troubles.  There are many instances in the Bible where men of God faced problems; David lusting for Bathsheba and Peter denying Christ are just two examples.  But they had a God to turn to for His love and forgiveness.

1 Corinthians 10:13-14 states, “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.  And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”  Psalms 116: 3-6 says “The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came upon me; I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.  Then I called on the name of the Lord: “O Lord, save me!”  The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.  The Lord protects the simple hearted; when I was in great need, he saved me.”

If Christians face problems and troubles each day, if Christians sin, what is a non-Christian going to be facing each day?  The hurts, frustrations, anger at home and at work.

But there is help if you turn to the Lord, in Colossians 1:13-14 the Bible states “For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”  And we have this forgiveness if we accept Him as our Savior as the Bible says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  And with that life we have a Lord that helps us through our troubles and problems and forgives us of our sins…because He loves us that much.

Jesus is calling for a decision that allows us have Him available to rescue us from our troubles and problems.  The only way to have that is to have Jesus Christ as your Savior.

You can make that commitment and make God the reference point of your life.  To have Salvation, the gift of understanding the purpose He has for you, and know the joys of His love and living in Christ all you have to do is make the simple decision in your heart to follow Jesus. This would be a great time for you to give your life over to Jesus for a new start. Commit to Jesus, He is committed to you. Do not wait or be too proud to pray this prayer:

Dear Jesus, forgive me of my sins. I accept your free gift of eternal life. I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the dead to purchase my salvation. Fill all the lonely areas of my life and make me aware of Your presence. I trust you right now. Amen.
